DO YOU KNOW THAT…?
From the first half of the 1st century to the middle of the 2nd, the Roman Empire made an enormous gold mining development in the southwest of Asturias. Almost all the mines were prime deposits, where the gold was found in really small pieces, by digging in the bedrock.
The first research by the gold washing allowed to discover the concentration of gold and it was complemented by the dig of subterranean galleries (ternagi) to determinate the correct direction of the exploitation.
