Cuetu d'Arbas

The trek goes along the partial Nature Reserve of the Cuetu d’Arbas. With its 2.002 metres high, it is one of the most popular climbs of the region. In spite of its high it is not a difficult path.

The trek starts in El Puerto Leitariegos, the higgest village of Asturias located at 1.550 m. During the climb you could enjoy impressive views of the glacier valley that spread across the mountain. In the valley there are a lot of cirques and glacier basins that were transformed into lakes, as the Arbas Lake that is the biggest of the region. This place, full of small peat bogs and moraines, is oe of the best examples of glacier sculpting on the western of Asturias.

To culminate, on the top of the mountain you could enjoy the best panoramic view over the Naviego valley and all the peaks between Degaña, Cangas del Narcea and Somiedo.
